Survey your course waitlist

The Tactic

Matt Barker is a well-known copywriter on LinkedIn.

While working on his upcoming course, he created a waitlist for anyone interested.

That's already smart. It helps validate interest.

But I really liked his approach because right after signing up for the waitlist, you get immediately redirected to a short survey.

The questions:

  • What are you mostly looking for my help with?

  • How would you describe yourself?

  • What is your biggest challenge right now?

  • What is your dream outcome from writing online?

  • If I solved your main problem, how would that impact your life? (Open-ended question)

Two things make this pretty smart:

  • Getting an idea of who the interested people are, which helps you tweak the content for better impact

  • Getting customer pain points and copy directly from them for a future sales page

Really smart move!

🕵️‍♂️ How to Steal it

If you want to release a course soon:

  • Put together a waitlist first

  • Survey them right after they join said waitlist

  • Steal Matt's questions or come up with your own

What matters here is that you get them to talk about their specific issues so you can use that information to tweak your marketing materials and course content.
